After 9/11 they said nothing else would happen to Americans on American soil. They were wrong, very wrong. Fate and Infliction had never seen anything like this. The White House had been blown half way to hell. Surrounding areas burned. The worst part was; they were stuck right in the middle of it.

Their unit of twenty men had been tasked with making a push into enemy occupied territory. Funny thought, huh? Enemy territory in America. Never the less the enemy was here. Echo squad had been deployed from fire base Alpha situated right next to the Washington Monument. It was a brutal fight to get to where they were now. Everyone except Fate and Infliction had been lost. The two men had no choice but to continue. They were to far in. Enemies were all around them. It would be just as difficult to retreat as it would be to press on. Ever heard of a suicide mission? This was that mission.

Fate and Infliction had made their way to the last ammo drop by the gas station on West Drive. Man, they were tired. They resupplied and radioed in.

"Overlord this is Hunter 2-1 we are at the check point Delta," Fate radioed in.

"Copy Fate, multiple hostiles advancing on your position From the north-west by the bank and the taco restaurant. Recommend switching to thermal optics. They're using smoke, over," the commander replied.

Fate sent Infliction to place a sentry gun turret on top of the Burger Town restaurant. As Infliction went to place the turret Fate gathered and placed claymores by cars and entrances to the gas station and diner. the later being their meet up point. He also grabbed the second turret, placed it in the diner and grabbed the thermal M21 EBR.

"Tureet in place at Burger Town," Infliction called.

"Good. Now, while you're there I'd like a double bacon cheeseburger combo with a Coke," Fate said.

"Would you like to biggie size that for a bullet in the ass more?"

"Hey, I could've told you I was in the mood for a taco. Fall back; they're coming."

Infliction rejoined Fate amid a hellfire of lead. The two men took up positions behind the counter and opened fire. Fate scoped in and dropped three enemies in quick succession. His turret took out another handful. At the same time the turret on the roof of Burger town unleashed it's deadly fire killing six more men. It was almost too easy.

"Tell you what. If the whole war was this easy you really could have made me that hamburger," Fate said.

Infliction threw a bag of chips at him. Then they heard the distinct sound of a frag grenade bounce behind them. Infliction grabbed it and threw it out the window as it detonated in a ball of fire and shrapnel. Too close they thought. All the while their turrets ate the enemy soldiers up.

"Hunter 2-1 be advised enemy Predator drone is in the air, over"

"Great, bad guys and robots. You know, I could have stayed home and watched The Terminator if I wanted this shit," Infliction said.

"Wall-E would've been better. Much cuter robot," Fate said.

Infliction just looked at him blankly. Fate shrugged and went back to work. The men continued to mow down the enemies. Claymores detonated killing more men and blowing up cars Michael Bay style. Would've made one hell of an action sequence. Then they heard and saw more bad news.

WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP. It was an Apache attack chopper. The ground began to rumble as a tank approached. Men continued to pour from the north. How many are there, they both wondered? Turret continued firing almost ceaselessly now. They would run out soon. The tank slammed them with machine gun fire. Still they continued to fight amidst the chaos and destruction. A whistle came through the air. An explosion rocked their world.

When the smoke cleared all they saw was a crater where the tank had been. The predator mistakenly blew it up. For all their fire power the enemy were still idiots. The only sound they could still hear was the chopper circling over head.

"Overlord can you confirm  enemy presence in the area," Fate radioed.

"Copy Hunter 2-1, all ground units down or retreating. Apache still circling."

"Well, I guess this is when they start playing the bad ass rock music when we walk out and blow up the bird right?" Infliction asked, hefting a RPG-7.

"Yeah, I was thinking maybe Back in Black," Fate said

Infliction nodded, strutted out and blew up the chopper. They had done the impossible. Two men against a battalion and they won the day. Slaps on the back ensued.

"You're not gonna kiss me are you?" Fate asked.

"Nah, you're too damn ugly."
