Hit'em Silent, Hit'em Hard

Author's note:
My idea with this blog is to do something a little different with my Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer experiences than others. Most people make montages or shorts. Those are nice and enjoyable in their own way. I want to breathe life into the game that many of us love. Hope you enjoy.

Hit'em Silent, Hit'em Hard

17:00 EST
2/8/10
Washington, DC Outskirts
Cpl. Ryan Ossmann callsign: Fate

Bastards. They came to our home and thought we would bow down, ha. We'll see who bows today. The captain recieved reports that fire base Alpha would be attacked at dusk, 18:00 hrs. So they loaded my unit of Rangers up and sent our asses to Skidrow; at least thats what the local cowboys call it.

I am the unit's LRR, Long Range Rifleman. I carry the M82 .50 cal sniper rifle, silenced, with hand loaded full metal jacket ammo. I like to keep my trusty old USP .45 colt the close up work. One of the coolest things the boys at R and D have developed is the PCBS, personal cold blooded system. It is a layer sandwiched between my armor and my skin. While it keeps my body temperature nominal; it also blocks my body heat from thermal imaging. A blessing in urban combat i promise. After all my gear seemed good to go I sighted my rifle to 250 yards. Since this would be semi-close quarters not much more would be needed. Everything was set and we were going back to the suck.

On arrival I found a nice building to nestle into. The building had a small hole through the wall so I could keep tabs on the ally designated "A". To my right were eight windows with a clear FOV on "B" and "C" entry ways. I rigged a claymore at the top of the stairs and called in my coms check.

"Fate's in the nest," I whispered.

"Copy Fate. Good hunting," that was Terry callsign Infliction.

He is an artist with a M16. We had deployed on every mission together since we joined. He would progress through the ranks further than me. Curse of the sniper they call. Lost in  thoughts of previous battles, I was shaken to when an explosion rocked the alley. Game time.

I heard running down the alley and sighted on it. Ten seconds later a Spetz soldier came around the corner. time stood still. I saw the rage in his face, the fear in his eyes, and then nothing. I released Hell from the barrel of my rifle and it took him with it. The headless body dropped and shook.

"CONTACT, 'B'"

I swung my rifle to the underground apartment exit. I saw shadows in the room. I told the men to wait. The enemy soldiers never knew what hit them. The .50 cal bullet ripped them in half  before the cleared the doorway. I could hear the fire fight around me now and started picking my targets. Two more went down in the alley in an explosion of gore and viscera. One down at "C"; I blew his right arm off. I was going to put another round into him for mercy when a flicker of motion caught my eye. There was a rifle pointed at me from a store window to the right of the dying man. I adjusted aim and sent him to oblivion.

"Fate, this is Liquid, we have a Harrier strike fighter at your disposal over,"

"Copy, set him over the play ground," I said.

Not two seconds later the jet roared over head, dropping it's payload on the approaching soldiers. It came back around to a hold pattern.

"Fate, this is Liquid, confirm three threats neutralized," the voice said.

Then the floor moved. My claymore had detonated killing an approaching soldier. I turned pulling my pistol; prepared for anything else. I approached the stairs with my heart racing.

"One more coming to you," it was Infliction.

I saw the man and waited in the shadows of the room. He approached the top of the stairs gun at the ready. I stepped forward plunging my knife into his throat.

"All clear," I said adding, "thanks."

"Fate to Base"

"Go ahead Fate"

"Requesting a Blackhawk attack chopper on my postion"

"Copy that Angel is on her way"

I heard it before I saw it. She was a thing of beauty. Tons of glistening black steel spitting her .50 cal rain of fire on the Spetznaz. They ran for it. The chopper chased them for a couple of miles and gave us the all clear. We lived again. Infliction was covered in blood and so was I.

"Close encounter to I see," I said. He grinned.

How many more times can we do this before  it's our turn to check out? I pondered this thought as I stowed my gear. The bird took off taking us back to base. I instantly fell into a deep sleep. It'll come when it comes.
